Starry night over Nepalese village. Night sky over the sherpa village of Gokyo (lower left), at lake Dudh Pikhari, Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal. The Himalayan mountain peaks include Cholatse and Tabuche. Also visible is a sea of clouds spreading along the Nagozumba Glacier. The red light above the Himalayas is airglow. Both the starlight and the airglow are reflected in the lake. Airglow is a phenomenon where a planetary atmosphere emits a faint glow when atoms are excited by sunlight.
