Ten specimens of this species, three males andseven females, are from southeast of Georges Bank. Three specimens come from Station 2571, steamer Albatross, takenat a depth of 1,356 fathoms, one from Station2572, taken at a depth of 1,769 fathoms, andsix from Station 2573, taken at a depth of 1,742fathoms. In some of the smaller and younger speci-mens the smaller lobes are not distinct, andseem to be fused, but in general character theyresemble the type as described. This species differs from Janirella nanseniBonnier in having the lateral processes widerand more rounded like lobes than spine-like asin that species, in having the base of the ros-trum not dilated as in that species, in having two spines on all thethoracic segments and not one on the first and three on the second,third, and fourth as in that Fig. —Janirella loba-ta. Surface , in alcohol, whitish. a I have placed this species with Munna, although I am inclined to think thatit should be made the type of a new genus. If there is a consensus of opinionin favor of this, I would suggest the name Gwcimunna for this form, and forthe species described from the Pacific coast of North America, which I calledMunna cwca, I would suggest the name Haplomunna.
