A view of Arkadi Monastery, Crete, from the south.
The monastery was the site of a famous disaster in 1866, when Cretan independence fighters blew up themselves and their Ottoman attackers at the end of a brief siege. This panorama was created by stitching together several photos, to give far better, distortion-free definition than is possible from taking a single photo with an extreme wide angle lens.
