Experiments with Dynamometer.—The dynamometer was tried only upon the main ginney road,Nos. 1 and 2 ginney roads being too low to admit of its being used with safety. It was firstbrought in on the empty-tub way, and then taken out on the full way. TJiree other experimentswere also made to find the tractive power required to work the main road, and the two branchesworking separately ; these were made in the first 248 yds. from the station, rising 1 in 17, and thereadings were noted at three different places on the bank.
