Cod being dried in the wind, Bakkagerdi, Iceland


Once caught, cod is dried in the wind by being tied and left on wooden drying posts in Iceland. Much of the cod is exported to Spain, where it is known as bacalao. Dried cod in Iceland is eaten as a snack and known as Hardfiskur.
