Garra de Leon or Lions Claw (Leontochir ovallei) is endemic to few valleys of the Atacama desert around Totoral Chile South America. Its tuberous root survives many years of drought. It is endangered in the wild, due to restricted distribution and collection by people. It is source of food for indigenous guanacos and introduced goats.
