They are very rich andyield large crops of oats and forage. The river bottom and delta lands are sub-ject to over-flow freshets occasioned by melt-ing snow at the mountain source of therivers. This over-flow acts as a fertilizingagent, bringing with it rich silt and otheralluvial material. The products of the riverbottom lands are very similar to and quiteas great as the crops grown upon the lowermarsh lands.
