Mr. Baker is looked upon asa man of principle, upright in his businessrelations and a good citizen. CHARLES R. TSCHUMY, a rep-resentative citizen, and a leadingwatchmaker and jeweler of OakHarbor, Ottawa county, is a na-tive of Sandusky county, Ohio, havingfirst seen the light August 21, 1S58, inFremont. His parents, Frederick and Marie(Birmley) Tschumy, were both born inBaden, Germany, the former December25, 1823, the latter August 10. were married in the Fatherland,and in 1849 immigrated to America, lo-. COMMEMORATIVE BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD. 639 eating first in New Orleans, La., wherethey resided several years, the fatherworking at his trade, that of a cabinetmaker, at which he was an expert. FromNew Orleans the family moved to Fre-mont, Sandusky Co., Oliio, afterward, in1863, to Port Huron, Mich., where engaged in the manufacture ofpumps. In 1864 they removed to Na-poleon, Henry Co., Ohio; thence, in1866, to Oak Harbor, where they con-tinued to reside for many years, enjoyingthe love and respect of all who knewthem. The fathers death occurred March10, 1874, his faithful and loving wife sur-viving him until December, 1886, whenshe, too, passed away. The Tschumyfamily consisted of eleven children, fiveof whom are yet living, viz.: FrederickJ., a marine engineer, residing in Cleve-land, Ohio; Emma, the wife of IraNeville, aresident of Teegarden, MarshallCo., Ind.; Louis H., a prominent builderand co
