I was a lad of eight years andduring the quadrennium there, underthe tuition of that prince of preceptors,Robert K. Bryan, Sr., I mastered muchscholastic lore before arriving at theteen age. The parsonage, located ina massive oak grove and on the publicroad leading to Wilmington, 11 milesdistant, was home longer than any otherresidence in all my itinerant life and isenshrined in memory. The well of un-commonly cool water, curbed round with. tion. In 1931 Rutherford College wasmade a station and Connelly Springswas annexed to Burke circuit. Chas. is our busy pastor and Crawford is junior preacher, serving the new Valdese church andWarlicks Chapel. Last year under thepastorate of W. L. Scott, plans wereprojected and some material purchasedfor a new church, and in this good yearChas. S. Plyler comes on the job andthe work has been consummated, givingus a new brick veneer church with sixSunday school rooms. Our 89 membersare happy to have a new house in whichto worship. The fact that the church iscompleted with no indebtedness bringsus additional joy. One hundred andtwenty-eight contributions were made tothe church building fund, ranging fromfive cents up. Our dedication servicewill be held on the second Sunday inSeptember. Brother Fox, our presidingelder, will preach at the morning former pastors and friends are cor-dially invited to be with us i
