Roots somewhat shorter than Improved Chantenay; flesh red- dish orange, with indistinct core of nearly the same color as the surrounding flesh; tender and sweet. RED CORE DANVERS 7 1% An attractive long strain of this important type, developed at our Pacific Coast breeding station and introduced in 1937; used by home and market gardeners, and extensively for ship- ping. Roots tapered to a blunt end, bright orange with core of very similar color, tender, and of fine quality. White Belgian 12 3 Used exclusively for stock; grows partly out of ground; skin green above ground, white below. Flesh white with tinge of cream color.
