The smali bony centre between the prootic (pro.) and UiaBuper-occipltal () is the epiotic they are overlapped by the nasals and nasal processes ofthe premaxillaries ()—a peculiarly ornithic characteramongst the higher vertebrata. The orbital rim is veryneat and perfect; the main part of the bone, covering thehemisphere, is a convex radiating scale. Inside the orbitthe bone sends inwards a thin scooped orbital process(/.), on whose convex surface the sloping btsan fails to invest the fontanelle, and the orbito-sphenoids,as yet, are not.
