Inscriptions: City mark on lower guard, left Column divides scene in half; left, within architectural setting, Esau seeks his father's blessing; Isaac realizes he has mistakenly blessed Jacob instead of Esau; upper R, Isaac, stricken with old age & near blindness, sends Esau for venison, & Rebekah overhears conversation; right, Jacob , disguised in Esau's clothes, descending stairs to bring food to his father (Genesis 27) (BRD) bunches of flowers & fruit; (L & R BRD) interspersed with strapwork, birds, female figures in swings & chariots, & grotesques; (LWR BRD) centered by putto This set of 3 panels in the "Life of Jacob" series was initially identified as the "Life of Moses" series, & was associated with 3 other panels with scenes from the "Life of Moses." All 6 panels were together in 1898 when sold to Charles M. Ffoulke by Princess Barberini. In 1970 it was realized that the 3 panels of this set represent the "Life of Jacob" series. French & C
