Legacy of Lebanese civil war, occupations of Lebanon and 2006 Israeli bombing destroyed much French Colonial and Ottoman Architecture. Political division over rebuilding, the late Rafiq Hariri's vision for complete reconstruction nearly achieved, groups oppose Soliderecompany, Hariri assassination site, St George Hotel's future uncertain, old and new Beirut side by side. The cinema remains with its shell holes and scars of war.
