Tablet with an inscription, Giuseppe Barberi, Italian, 1746–1809, Pen and brown ink, brush and brown wash, graphite on off-white laid paper, lined, The inscription is written in a central rectangle with a more elaborate frame having spirals above, on top of outwards turned cherubim, at the sides, and moldings on top. In the upper band is a Maltese cross. Below the frame is an escutcheon-like console with an inner escutcheon. The whole is surrounded by a garland springing from the mouth of a mask and ending there. Laterally framed by leaves of two crossed branches.
