'The Letter of Introduction', 1841. By Ebenezer Landells (1808-1860) for 'Punch', 5th September 1841. Sir Robert Peel (1788-1850) being asked to form a government by Queen Victoria (1819-1901). This was Peel's second term as Prime Minister which lasted until 1846. Amongst other things Peel is remembered for helping create the modern police force, leading to officers being known as "Bobbies" (in England) and "Peelers" (in Northern Ireland).
