Lisbon, Portugal. The tomb of poet Luis Vaz de Camoes in the church of Santa Maria in the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, or the Monastery of the Hieronymites. Camoes, c. 1524-1580, is considered one of the most important Portuguese poets. His remains were transferred here from the church of the convent of Santa Ana in 1880 on the 300th anniversary of his death. The tomb is the work of sculptors Vitor Bastos and Costa Mota. The monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
