Tate Modern, Bankside, London, England


The Tate Modern galleries are housed in the former Bankside Power Station on the south bank of the Thames opposite St Paul's Cathedral. The building was originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott with the first building starting in 1947. Following the station's closure in 1981 it was converted by Herzog & de Meuron to house the Tate's collection of international works of art dating from 1900 onwards.
