C. L. Moody, a graduate of the Uni- versity of Maine, has succeeded Max Geisler in charge of trees and shrubs at the Missouri Botanical Garden. Mr. Geisler has been appointed research as- sistant in the United States forestry service at the Utah experiment station. Visitors last week were Hugo Busch, of Jefferson City, Mo.; Gust Grossart, W. E. Ogle, Mathew Schoenenberger and A. S. Halstead, of Belleville, 111.; Edwin Denker, of St. Charles, and M. F. Wid- mer, of Highland, HI. All attended the club meeting June 14. J. J. B. BOSTON. The Market. There is a somewhat bettor tone to the market, this condition being attrib- uted, in some degree, to weddings, gradu- ations and other school and college exercises. Demands from schools are below normal, as the authorities in quite a number of cases have forbidden the use of flowers on so-called economical grounds. The roses arriving are of grand quality for the latter half of June, due to the fact that we have had little warm weather as yet. Prices vary from 50 cents to $10 per hundred. A limited number only exceed these fig- ures and the demand is chiefly for the medium grades. White Killarney has been selling better, on account of wed- ding demands. Carnations have been' cleaning up more easily, but prices are low, few flowers selling above $ per hundred. Lilies continue druggy and the large- flowered gladioli go slowly.
