The northern boundary of Ver-mont is nearly coincident with the forty-fifth parallel ofnorth latitude, crossing it several times, hence is practicallyequidistant between the equator and north pole; its easternboundary is the west bank of the Connecticut River at lowwater; its southern boundary is a continuation of the southern »F^. Hathaways Point, St. Albans BayLake Champlain boundary of New Hampshire and is nearly the parallel offorty-two degrees forty-four minutes north latitude; andthe western boundary extends in a northerly direction fromthe northwest corner of Massachusetts to the Poultney Riverand then follows the deepest channel of this river and ofLake Champlain.
