The preparations to burn a mesa, sacrificial offering for the mother earth deity, la pachamama, with coca leaves, alcohol, wine, cinnamon and wood

In August the majority of Aymaran Bolivians burn a mesa, the sacrificial offering to the pachamama, mother earth goddess, so that she will bless them with good fortune in their endeavours and relationships and health. The mesa contains llama wool, a dessicated llama foetus or fat, coca leaves, often fruits and is burned with the ashes buried afterwards for the mother earth.
