A Medieval pilgrims badge signifying the sign of St Werburga.(also spelled Werburgh ,Wærburh and Werburh. She was was an Anglo-Saxon princess who became the patron saint of the city of Chester in Cheshire, UK. Her feast day is 3 February (She died on that date in 699, having been born c650 AD). She is reported to have performed many miracles in her lifetime including the bringing back to life of a dead goose (or geese, hence the depiction on the badge).
