Wattle flowering in Ironbark (Eucalyptus fibrosa) woodland, Pillaga National Park, near Coonabarabran, NSW Australia

We arrived late in the afternoon at Coonabarabran and it rained all night, with the following morning grey and misty. Knowing that the conditions could be promising I headed out, the only problem where to go. On the map in my lap I saw a section of Pillaga National Park close to the road and decided to explore. I turned off and the road turned into a semi rough dirt road, always a good sign. In the semi dark I, that is the truck, crawled along at walking pace as I searched for a suitable location to setup. Stopping countless times I searched around the bush but retured to the truck unsuccessful. By now thw sun had risen but mist was persistant. I retraced the track out to the highway, and just about to turn off, found a grassy patch of woodland that looked promising. The rain soaked grass meant my pants were quickly soaked but I didnt mind as I found that something special that I wasnt looking for, a blooming Acacia in an Ironbark woodland.
