View N over Llyn Padarn to the Dinorwic Slate Quarry Hospital Visitor Centre within Padarn Country Park, Llanberis, Wales, UK. Built 1860, it was maintained largely by contributions from the quarrymen themselves via a sick club. In 1979 it became a visitor centre run by Gwynedd Council. Padarn Country Park covers 800 acres containing walking trails through the Vivian Slate Quarries and oak woods of Coed Dinorwig: a Local Nature Reserve & SSSI. The flat-topped mound between the paddle steamer & the hospital is a reclaimed slate tip. The Dinorwig Slate Quarry Mountain Landscape is part of The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales which became the UK's 32nd UNESCO World Heritage Site on 28 July 2021.
