Not only is virus free Premier more virgorous and upstanding, much like Blakemore in its growth habit, but also the berries are definitely lighter and apparently not quite so firm. The gen- eral consensus among growers and research men is that if the changes in virus free Premier are not entirely due to freedom from virus that at any rate the fruit grower is benefited by having the virus free stock due to the extra vigor of plant growth. Many old stocks of Premier have been failing to make a plant bed good enough for a satisfactory crop while virus free Premier would almost always make a sa- tisfactory fruiting bed. However, if there is a genetic difference in these stocks of Premier the virus free plants have not yet had time to demonstrate the fact that they may be just as frost resistant as regular Premier. Our regular stocks of Premier have made beautiful two feet wide beds— our virus free stocks just as good or better. If you prefer the virus free stock please indicate same on the order sheet.
