This painting, titled "The Entombment is by Michelangelo," is thought to have been done around 1501-02. It is unfinished. It shows Christ's body being carried to the tomb. The identity of the people is not certain but the man in red at left may be St. John the Evangelist. Others may be Niccodemus and Joseph of Aramathaea. At bottom left, most likely, is Mary Magdalene, and the woman to the back right isthe Holy Woman. The prepared outline at bottom right was probably to be the figure of the Virgin Mary.
