Hayburn Wyke, Cloughton, Yorkshire, UK

A photograph of Hayburn Wyke ( a Wyke is a local word describing the many small, sheltered bays below the crumbling cliffs) from the rugged cliff tops near Cloughton, Yorkshire. This photograph was taken along a point along the Cleveland Way walk. The latter is a National Trust maintained walkway beginning at Helmsley and ending in Filey (both in Yorkshire). The walk is some 110 miles (177 kms) encompassing rugged moorland and high cliffs such as the view depicted in this photograph which also shows a view of the North Sea. The overcast day perfectly reflects this rugged landscape.
