Rahiliya Sun Temple of Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, India. This Sun temple locally known as Rahiliya Temple was constructed by the Chandela king Rahil Dev Varman (890-915 CE) on the bank of Rahil Sagar. Made of granite stone, its Grarbha Griha (sanctum sanctorum) was adorned with the image of Surya. It is erected on a high platform and has a high adhisthana (establishment) with ornamental mouldings. The sikhara over the sanctum is tall and curvilinear in design. It is said that it was destroyed by Qutub-ud-din Aibak 1203 CE.
