Founders' week memorial volume : containing an account of the two hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary of the founding of the city of Philadelphia, and histories of its scientific institutions, medical colleges, hospitals, etc. . ellbe moved from the hospital, it was necessary to at once use thenew wing, although this was not formally opened until the earlypart of 1904. With a second State appropriation, received in1903, a laundry building and power house were erected to the eastof the administration building. In 1905, the State appropriatedfifty thousand dollars additional; with this money there waserected a new kitchen and dining building, an addition to thepower house and a south wing containing two stories, and a base-ment supplying much needed larger wards, and also a place forthe rapidly growing dispensary service. To provide room for theerection of the south wing the rear portions of the original dwell-ings were removed. This gave the hospital a capacity of onehundred and ten beds. In 1907, a brick home for nurses waserected upon the east side of the hospital lot with the frontageon Park Avenue, and during 1908 the old building at the cornerof Broad and Ontario Streets, which had previously been used as. NURSES TRAINING SCHOOL.
