When we add that at the pickling stage, in connection with the good qualities named, the fruits are of an unusually dark-green color—so deep that no coloring matter is necessary, even in preparing them for market—it will be apparent that the Paris Pickling is altogether unapproached in quality. The vines are of healthy, vigorous growth, with rich, dark green foliage, and throw out strong, grasp- ing tendrils, which enable it to climb trellis wire netting, brush, or any other suitable support. It bears abundantly throughout the season, while the climbing habit enables the hanging fruit to grow perfectly straight; from twelve to sixteen inches in length, the cucumbers are thick, tender, and of del- icate flavor; flesh pure white, skin dark green turn- ing to brown and netted when ripe.
