black-winged stilts on its way to defend its nest INDIA HILARIOUS images show black-winged stilts appearing to sky-surf on the back of a Marsh Harrier. Riding the coattails of the harrier, the black-winged stilts looked like they were having the time of their life, but the plucky bird was actually defending its nearby nest from attack by the bigger bird. This scene occurred above the Saul Kere Lake in Bangalore, India. The harrier was circling the nest for about ten minutes to get a chance to attack it when the stilt came into action and quite literally steered him away. These images were taken by an Indian photographer, Bamby Randhawa, using a Sony Alpha 1 camera and a Sony GM 600 mm F4 OSS prime lens. ?I was surprised and extremely excited to have captured this moment,? he said. ?Watching the Black Winged Stilt resting its claws on the Marsh Harrier's back feathers, watching a small bird fight against a lethal raptor, was mesmerising. ?It was fascinating to witness how parents risk their lives in order to protect their offspring in the ENDs
