BucKHANNON, a post-ofiice of Upshur county, Virginia. Buckingham, a county in the S. E. central part of Virginia,has an area of 680 square miles. The James river forms itsboundary on the N. and N. W., the Appomattox washes theSouthern border; it is also drained by Willis and Slate surface varies from level to hilly : Willis mountain, in theS. E. part, is the principal elevation. The soil is not naturallyrich, excepting in the vicinity of the rivers. Tobacco, Indiancorn, wheat, oats, and live stock are the staples.
