B-1 makes its 10,000th combat mission
SOUTHWEST ASIA – Capt. Mark Kimball and Lt. Col. Alejandro Gomez, 9th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron pilots, double-check each other’s gear prior to flight at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia Feb. 26, 2012. The B-1, or “Bone” as it is affectionately known, performed its first combat mission in December 1998 during Operation Desert Fox. The B-1 flew its 10,000th combat mission in support of operations in Afghanistan.
