Whittelsey type gas mask issued to American soldiers during World War One. The mask was made of a single piece and featured a seam under the chin. This photograph, taken on April 2, 1919, is part of the Chemical Warfare Service Reco collection. The mask was assigned the number AU and notes indicate it was labelled as 2459.
