Muscles and bones of the body. Artwork taken from Charles Estienne's De dissectione partium corporis humani (On the dissection of parts of the human body), published 1545. The labelled illustration shows a male cadaver superficially dissected to reveal the underlying musculature and some of the bones. Estienne (ca. 1504-1564)was a French doctor but published a book on agriculture and a French encyclopaedia as well as this anatomical atlas.
