The impression made by the doctor upon the minds of his hearers on thisoccasion was the same as he had produced five years before in Boston; and amovement was immediately inaugurated to induce him to come to New York as alecturer. Mr. Cooper offered the use of a room in the institute, and Dr. Rimmerdelivered a few lectures there. These gave so much satisfaction that the trustees of the School of Design forWomen, one of the art departments of the Cooper Institute, invited Dr. Rimmerto become its director and chief instructor.
