Male brown bear catching spawning salmon at Brooks Falls, Katmai National Park, Alaska
Each year millions of Pacific salmon return to their natal rivers of Alaska to spawn. Each year hundreds of Alaskan brown bears feast on the returning salmon. The oceanic nutrients the salmon provide helps to fatten up the bears before they enter hibernation in the autumn.
