Protest Against Contamination of South Platte River with Benzene from Suncor Refinery

Commerce City, Colorado - Environmentalists and community residents protest the contamination of Sand Creek and the South Platte River with cancer-causing benzene from the Suncor Energy refinery near Denver. Suncor processes tar sands it receives by pipeline from Canada, as well as locally-produced crude oil. Benzene levels in the water are as much as 100 times the federal water quality standard.
