Fish artworks from Renard, 18th century. These five fish are Plate 32 from the second edition (1754) of 'Poissons, Ecrevisses et Crabes' (Fish, Crayfish and Crabs) by French publisher Louis Renard (1678–1746). This work, first published in 1719, was the earliest known work on fish to be produced in colour. The artworks are by Samuel Fallours. The text, in French, describes the edibility of the fish and their locations.
