The Carlsberg Laboratory in was founded in 1875 by J. C. Jacobsen, the founder of the Carlsberg brewery. The laboratory researched protein chemistry and yeast purification as related to brewing. It also was the first to introduce the concept of pH to acid-base chemistry. This old globe and old journals are in the library of the laboratory.
