McCullough visited ahead of the 2018 Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageant in Shreveport, Louisiana. The STARBASE program is a Department of Defense initiative that helps students learn practical applications in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. McCollough, a nuclear scientist with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, spent almost two hours engaging with the students about the importance of STEM.
