TO THE CITY COUNCIL .<- Gentlemen,— In obedience to the requirements of theOrdinances of the city, I herewith submit my report for theyear ending December 31, 1863. At the commencement of the year there were twohundred and seventy-nine lamps, two hundred and elevenof which were for gas, and sixty-eight for fluid. Of the eighteen lights on Central Bridge, only twelveare now in use, that number being deemed sufficient. During the year six new lights have been added, andlocated as follows: — on corner of Middlesex and South streets ; on corner of Appleton and South streets ; on cornerof West Union and Gorham streets ; on Stackpole street,opposite Alder street; on Nesmith street, opposite Mansurstre
