Today we commemorate those who sacrificed and refused to yield. Those who ensured American triumph at Midway. Those whose selfless dedication contributed to the defense of global freedom over tyranny. Those whose service ‘turned the tide of war’ of the battle in the Pacific – and of the entire war." The Battle of Midway was a major American victory by the Navy against Japan’s Imperial Navy, turning the tide of war, near the island of Midway in the Pacific Ocean, June 4-7, 1942, six months after Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor.
