WASHINGTON NAVY YARD (July 27, 2021) - Rear Adm. Charles W. Brown, Navy Chief of Information, far left, and Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC) Director Samuel J. Cox, a retired Navy rear admiral, far right, along with the Navy Museum Development Foundation Board of Directors President Albert H. Konetzni Jr., a retired Navy vice admiral, and Dr. Jennifer London cut the ribbon for the “Future Campus Vision” exhibit showcasing the new National Museum of the United States Navy (NMUSN), July 27, 2021, at the current NMUSN. The Navy has set tentative plans to open the new NMUSN campus in October 2025, correlating with the Navy's 250th birthday. The NMUSN campus will act as an enduring memorial to honor the service of American Sailors, inspire selfless service and enhance public understanding of the Navy’s history and heritage. NHHC is responsible for managing, researching, preserving, and interpreting the Navy's collection of sunken military craft, which includes more than 2,500 shipwrecks and 14,000 aircraft wrecks dispersed globally.
