Good is a man of rare characteristics, and, likehis mother, he has inherited that kind and innocent dis-position which no one fails to appreciate. He is kind toeveryone, and especially do you find the better class ofpeople gather around him to hear his interesting con-versation. He is another one of the few men who believein and practice the golden rule. I am inclined to think thathe was never angry, and if he was, he never showed the trials of life, during the long continued sicknessand death of his first wife and her mother, and the loss ofhis property and his home in Virginia, and with a family ofchildren to provide for, yet he braved all these with aChristian fortitude.
