Red Warning Flag For Otterburn Training Area Near Alwinton, Northumberland National Park.
Otterburn Training Area was first established in 1911 as an artillery range. Today training takes place 7 days a week for virtually the whole year. The exceptions are a 4-week period during the height of the lambing season (15 April to 15 May), plus at least one non-firing week-end each month, and a 2-week break over Christmas. Northumberland National Park was officially designated on the 6th April 1956.
