Spiral galaxy M106, composite image
Composite image of the spiral galaxy Messier 106 (M106), also known as NGC 4258. This galaxy measures 135,000 light years across and lies 25 million light years from Earth, in the constellation Canes Venatici. Two dwarf galaxies also appear in the image, NGC 4248 in the lower right and UGC 7358 in the lower left. This image is a composite of data from the Hubble Space Telescope and the Nicholas U. Mayall 4-meter Telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona, USA.
