In Study Area 2, 5 of the 6 radio-tracked crabs also made stops and remained within a small area (5-30 m diameter) for periods ranging from 1 to 7 days before continuing towards the coastal terraces (Fig. lOa. b). Of the 5622 red crabs color-coded in eight sites within Study Area 2, 1338 sightings of color-coded crabs, on their downward or return migrations, were recorded. For every 100 color-coded crabs released, the subsequent sightings ranged from 38% for the white-coded crabs to only 67c for.
