The anchorage is only a fair one, being open to the south-west; but the holding-ground is good. From Placentia we touched at Salmonier, St Mary's, and Trepassey, and arrived at St John's May 16th, about the usual time for ships to reach St John's from the West Indies, without this preliminary canter. After a short spell for rest and refreshment, [and having been joined by my colleagues, we â¢hspersed again on our several cruises, the Fan- Itome taking the southern route, whilst we went [up the east coast. Our first port of call was |Harhour Grace, and from thence to Heart's Con- tent,âpretty names both of them. The latter , ⢠. â I.
