Nursery stock Ohio Catalogs; Vegetables Seeds Catalogs; Flowers Catalogs; Bulbs (Plants) Catalogs; Plants, Ornamental Catalogs; Fruit trees Seedlings Catalogs; Fruit Catalogs. 34 THE STORRS & HARRISON CO.'S CATALOGUE NEW AND STANDARD VARIETIES. FLOWEKS FKOM SEED ARE US 17AXEY MOWN AS ANNUALS, BIENNIAES AND PERENNIALS. Annuals bloom and ripen seed the first year and then perish. Biennials do not generally flower the first season and are in perfection only one year. Perennials continue to flower several years in succession. Hardy Annuals, Biennials and Perennials can be sown in the open ground early in the spring if desired, and Biennials and Perennials will not require any protection in Winter. Half Hardy Annuals, Biennials and Perennials should not be sown in open ground until settled warm weather, though they can be sown in the house, if desired, early and afterwards transplanted. The two latter need to be protected in the Winter, or carried over until Spring in cold frames or green- houses. The figures at the right of the eolumn show the price of a packet of seeds in cents. ASTERS. The most popular and useful of all our annuals. For early flowers the seed may be sown in the house, or greenhouse, in March or April, and transplanted in the open ground in May. However, as the Aster is essentially a fall flower, and the late blossoms are the finest, it is best to sow the seed in the bed thinly early in May, and transplant when strong enough setting the plants of the large varieties twelve inches apart and the dwarf ones six inches apart. Half- hardy annuals. NEW GIANT COMET ASTERS. The Comet Aster is well known for its unique ap- pearance, resembling the Japanese chrysanthemums; but in this beautiful race of Giants we have not only the twisted, curled and crested forms of the old Comet, but much larger and more striking flowers. The petals are longer and broader with the same beautiful wavy appearance of this class. The flow- ers are produced freely
