Kenya. This is Mount Kenya from the Teleki Valley as it was in 1976/77 with the twin peaks of Batian at 17,058 ft; 5199m on the left and Nelion 17,022ft; 5188m on the right. The peaks are split at the top with the gap named the Gates of Mists from where the mountain is split by the old volcanic core of the Diamond Couloir. The jagged peak to the right is Point John while the lesser peak in the centre is Midget Peak. The mountain is also known by the local name of Kirinyaga with Batian and Nelion being named after local Masai
